Sharing my thoughts makes me a little more human

Finally got my business cards printed! Good thing I only made 20 because I decided I want to make the type at the bottom one weight heavier and a few points bigger. Thought it was amusing when the kinko’s worker thanked me so much for actually knowing to add bleeds and safe space around the edges for cutting. They’re printed on a “natural” color paper to mimic the cream color on this website. Featured are two of my favorite fonts: Museo (the slab serif) and Aaux Pro (has cute numerals too!)
The question is, when was the last time you got handed a business card? Maybe I’m just too young.

So I’m thinking about naming my font “Ohey.” Right now, Ohey only has an ultralight weight, but soon it will have regular. Maybe if I’m feeling real crazy I’ll even make an italics, but that’s probably not going to happen for a while. Anyway for type class we had to create a poster showcasing our font, so I made a fake one for Ashlee. Keep in mind I made this in the 10 minute break between classes so… I wouldn’t be surprised if something was spelled wrong but it is what it is. Also, thx to bittbox for providing the flourish vectors.
ORIGINAL FONT POSTOhey girl.

Lately I’ve been obsessed with making this font, it’s based on my handwriting. I’m spending far too many hours in front of the computer messing with it.
And with that short introduction, here is my first original font (I know I’m sort of cheating because it’s based on handwriting and therefore does not have to be perfect..)

Instead of paying diligent attention in Greek Art today, Jessica and I decided it would be well worth our time to go back and forth in Illustrator creating a graphic for AIGA members to come hang at the cellar on Thursday night. It took a few hours, overall a ridiculously fun process.

START TO FINISH:
01. Jessica: chose the bkd picture and added a caption
02. Erin: Added a border around the picture, beer glass illustration, date, and a title “pitchers and pictures”
03. Jessica: moved the caption, removed border and title, added pitcher/beer illustrations, created a description, moved date to upper left, added random lines
04. Erin: added white line under date, added pink line above thursday, moved description, moved beer glass, removed pitcher and extra glass, added outline around the hand, removed random lines
05. Jessica: fixed the date to 10.02.08 (oops!)
