Sharing my thoughts makes me a little more human

and a little less like I stayed up all night working on a design

I found this video on smashingmag, and had to laugh a little.  It’s interesting, ever since I became a graphic design major at Tech there’s been an understanding amongst all of us that comic sans is sick.  Bad sick.  I never really questioned it, just sort of seemed like the right thing to agree with.  But isn’t it really the designer, or non designer, that makes comic sans so awful by using it in the wrong places?

This is the only card I got on Valentines Day and it couldn’t have been more perfect!

This year I branched out a little from Gill Sans and Helvetica. Here are some of my favorite fonts that I discovered in 2008: Aaux Pro, Museo, DIN, Clarendon, Gotham, VAG (mostly because of the name), and Obamabats!

I’ve been meaning to put these up for a while, some sweet stuff I got over the winter break involving type. On the second day of being home I went poster shopping at the Black Cat in DC with Jessica and Jason. For 30 bucks, I came back with some pretty great designs.

The day after Christmas Jessica and I braved the Tyson’s corner parking lot (for 45 minutes) and I found these amazing bandaids which I had to have. Much to my delight, Jessica scraped her foot on a book and actually needed to use one that day! Note how her shoes match the packaging, amazing.

Finally got my business cards printed! Good thing I only made 20 because I decided I want to make the type at the bottom one weight heavier and a few points bigger. Thought it was amusing when the kinko’s worker thanked me so much for actually knowing to add bleeds and safe space around the edges for cutting. They’re printed on a “natural” color paper to mimic the cream color on this website. Featured are two of my favorite fonts: Museo (the slab serif) and Aaux Pro (has cute numerals too!)

The question is, when was the last time you got handed a business card? Maybe I’m just too young.
